Burcu Çelet Özden, M.D. Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery FEBS, FEBOPRAS Dr. Burcu Çelet Özden is a leading expert in breast reconstruction, with a distinguished career in plastic surgery. She completed her education and residency at Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical Faculty, where she has served as faculty and an attending surgeon. She obtained the European Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (EBOPRAS) certification in 2014 and became Turkey’s first double board-certified plastic surgeon by passing the European Breast Board exam in 2019, a distinction shared by only a few colleagues in Europe. In 2017, she founded Istanbul Breast Clinic, a dedicated center for breast plastic surgery, where she specializes in breast and chest wall reconstruction. Over the past decade, she has performed more than 1,800 immediate implant-based breast reconstructions, making her a high-volume expert in the field. Dr. Çelet Özden’s research focuses on two-stage reconstruction, radiotherapy compatibility, implant sizing, and prepectoral breast reconstruction. Her work has been recognized internationally, including the National Best Paper Award in 2013 for her research on expander volumes and radiotherapy effects. A pioneer in immediate prepectoral direct-to-implant breast reconstruction, she is an invited speaker at global breast surgery conferences and plays a key role in international research collaborations. Dr. Çelet Özden actively contributes to education, collaborating with leading implant manufacturers. She remains at the forefront of advancing breast reconstruction techniques worldwide.
